I’m the author of the mystery novel The Devil Did Grin, and my collected short stories are now available in the book Down a Crooked Road; Tales of Mystery & Suspense.

As a freelance writer, I’ve sold over 150 articles on topics like travel, art, food & wine, boating, pop culture, and parenting. I also write essays and marketing material. If it involves putting words together, I’ve probably done it.

My work has appeared in Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel, The Writer, Voyaging, Points North, Skylights, and many other magazines, newspapers, and web sites. I also operate the web site Smart Trips, where you can find many of my favorite travel articles along with vacation tips and travel-related news.

I taught writing classes for Clayton State University and have lectured at Oglethorpe University. I now offer online writing classes and workshops geared toward both fiction and non-fiction writing.

My awards include a gold medal at the 2008 GAMMA Awards and first prize in the 2007 travel writing contest sponsored by Writers Journal magazine.
